Cloud 9 Turnings

We created Chris' ecommerce site many years ago, but he had since scaled back and is concentrating on creating unique custom pieces and the existing site was feeling a little bulky.

When it was time to streamline his site, we also wanted to simplify and modernize the look to emphasize the elevated quality of his work.

Cloud 9 Turnings

The Problem

Cloud 9 Turnings had previously operated as an ecommerce site with several items for sale at a time. Since we created that site, Chris has scaled back his production and is focusing on created unique custom pieces with a special story rather than purely retail items.

The Process

We determined that a more streamlined site with an elevated appearance would be more appropriate to the level of craftmanship and the price point associated with the offering.

The top three goals for this new website are:

  1. Share unique art through a gallery that would allow us to include its story
  2. Emphasize the craftmanship behind each piece and allow the user how they may have a tree or piece of wood with a story worth preserving
  3. Encourage users to reach out to Chris to discuss a custom piece

Goal #1

Share unique art through a gallery that would allow us to include its story

Goal #2

Emphasize the craftmanship behind each piece and allow the user how they may have a tree or piece of wood with a story worth preserving

Goal #3

Encourage users to reach out to Chris to discuss a custom piece

The Solution

We created a modern, streamlined website with most of the content located on the main page, including Chris' story and method, and a contact form.

Visitors can also view the complete Gallery or read the story of each of the featured works on separate page.

Now Chris has a website that leans more toward artist's gallery than cozy woodworking shed.
